The foundation of The University of Oxford began to form in the 11th century. During this time there were many scholars in Oxford. The earliest records show that lectures began as early as 1096. In 1167 King Henery II forbade all students in England from attending the University of Paris, which forced the scholars to return to the institutions of Oxford. In 1249 The University College, as it is now known, was established. It was followed by Balliol College in 1263, and Merton College in 1264. The University of Oxford has grown into one of the most prestigious learning facilities in the world.

The University of Oxford has 25 British Prime Ministers and at least 25 World leaders as members of their alumni. The University holds at least on access activity every day of the working week. Some of these include: e-mentoring, teacher activities, summer schools and summer visits. Oxford is on the leading front nationally and internationally in research. They now offer undergraduate and postgraduate courses to their students. The student body of the University of Oxford include students from 139 different countries studying various subjects. In keeping up with the growing demand for higher learning opportunities, a new college will open to students in the fall of 2008. Templeton College and Green College will merge to form the Green Templeton College. This will further help students to reach their educational goals.
