Winchester, a cathedral city, is located in southern England. It is England's ancient capital known today for its delightful city life and the beauty of the surrounding countryside. Winchester College is considered to be the oldest currently open school in England. Winchester is home to one of the oldest cathedrals in all of England. King Arthur's round table is located in the Great Hall, which was formerly known as Winchester Castle. Today, the castle remains a popular venue for weddings. The ruins of Wolvesey Castle are also a most interesting place to visit. There are many festivals in Winchester each year. One of the most widely known is the Hat Fair: this festival combines a mix of circus, crazy performances, workshops and world music.
